Don Cotter was born and raised in Tottenham, North London.

Created solely from a mental image of a bare stage with a single deck chair sitting beside a worn armchair, Don's new play: Freddie, Ted and the Death of Joe Orton has evolved over the past two years, and has now reached draft number seven. This is his third full length play. Previous work: Shelves & Frames - a double bill of two one act plays (Hen & Chickens) ; The Fetish Club (Jermyn Street) and A Splendid Time (rehearsed reading at Theatre Royal, Stratford East). A member of The Script Readers, he has also adapted his latest play for radio.

ACTING:  Don trained at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. Theatre includes: Journey's End (King's Head / National Theatre - Platform); The Fair Maid of the West (Drum, Plymouth); Dearly Beloved (Bridewell); No Sex Please, We're British (Garrick); Iron (Old Red Lion) ; Impotent (Lion and Unicorn); Whistle Down The Wind (Everyman, Cheltenham); Chicago (English Theatre, Frankfurt)  Children of Darkness (Leicester Sq. Theatre); Table Manners (Windsor); Snoopy - The Musical (Duchess).

Repertory seasons also at: Birmingham; Northampton; Leicester; Basingstoke; Perth; Westcliff; Southwold and Swansea. TV includes: Bert & Dickie; The Bill; London's Burning.

 As Founder of The Script Readers, Shenagh Govan is thrilled to be supporting this rehearsed reading in the next stage of development of ‘Freddie, Ted & the Death of Joe Orton’  by Don Cotter from its original workshop in 2012.

Shenagh trained at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School & has worked extensively in theatre, TV, film & radio. Recent work includes ‘Whose Afraid of Virginia Woolf’ by Edward Albee & also ‘Frozen’ by Bryony Lavery at The National Theatre Studio for Fingersmiths Theatre Company. Readings of ‘The Star In The Cross’ at The Bush & ‘Truckstop’ at The Gate & own 1 woman show ‘War Crimes for the Home’ currently in production.

TV film credits include Aunt Gritty in “The Mill on the Floss” with Emily Watson & Bernard Hughes  , Sally Masey in Peter Kosminsky’s “Innocents” with Tim Pigott Smith, Bookish Woman in “Stuart A Life Backwards” with Benedict Cumberbatch & Tom Hardy  and “Summer in The Suburbs” & “The Vascillations of Poppy Carew”.

Shenagh’s TV extensive credits  include 8 years as Joy, S.O.C.O in The Bill,  & episodes of “Murder in Mind”, Sea of Souls, “Holby City”, “Doctors”, “Casualty”, “Midsomer Murders”, “Without Motive”, “Eastenders”, “Taking Liberties, “Dear Dilemma” & “Inside Victor Lewis Smith”.
