Crying Duck [March-June]

The line-up for 27th June is:

LUISA OMIELAN

Huge success doesn't really describe Ms Omielan's last Edinburgh show What Would Beyonce Do? More like a really quite big huge success I would say. Like laughing a lot? You'll bloody love this girl.

"Megawatt comedy personality" The Guardian

"About as funny as any comedy show needs to get" The Telegraph

Supported by:

MAT EWINS

This single-T-Mat contains all the ingredients that we love at the Crying Duck: smart, silly, sound-effects and a heartbeat. A flurry of jokes and nonsense will clip you round the ear and cause your mouth to make laughing sounds.

ED CARUANA

Who on Earth is that trying to force the locked door of your flat in the dead of night? Why it’s Ed Caruna of course and when he’s not evading capture you can oogle expertly constucted punchlines as they slip out of his silly mouth. An artisan of comedy.

RICHARD TODD

If we were to say that this ‘Hot Toddy’ is Northern, surreal and has a certain gangly quality then we’d be... well, spot on. But we could go further and say that Rich is more than an act, he’s a curling comedy tsunami and he’s heading our way.

PAST SHOWS [ARCHIVE]:

The line-up for 30th May was:

ALUN COCHRANE

Mr Cochrane is one we have admired from afar for some time and after plucking up the guts to ask him, he’s agreed to go out with us. Laconic, lithe and all things nice, here is one of the few folks who can stand with a firm foot in both the club and alternative comedy scenes. Want to see how that’s done? Park it.

“…rarely have such random musings been elevated to this level of hilarious artistry.” The Scotsman

Supported by:

PAT CAHILL

This Duck favourite promises to bring some of his trademarked surrealism. As our modern day 'King of the Music Hall' here you'll find some of the best set pieces on the circuit. And that’s Mister Cahill to you.

SOFIE HAGEN

Our favourite Dane and winner of Chortle's Best Newcomer 2014, this stone cold assassin has talked her way through more new act competitions than you can shake a stick at. But that is the past now, mere comedy rubble, come see what she's serving.

DAVE GREEN

Former BBC New Comedy Award finalist and all round good egg, Dave makes for a highly anticipated Duck guest. Once seen, you’ll always go Green.

The line-up for Friday 28th March was:

David Trent

Known by some as the Comedy King of Multi-Media, or as I prefer to call him, a 'computer whizz', Trent's storming Foster's nominated Edinburgh show “Spontaneous Comedian” launched this opinionated, shouty, comedy whirlwind of a man into the stratosphere and as a firm Crying Duck favourite, we're thrilled to have him in the Showcase.

'"One of the most talked-about people in comedy right now.'" Guardian

"His use of video, animation and repetition is brilliant and unique...genuine originality.'" Chortle

Pierre Novellie

A child star in South Africa, Pierre has found himself in London via the Isle of Mann. Perhaps it is some strange geographical alchemy that has made this young man one of the funniest new comedians on the circuit. Winner of the Amused Moose Laugh-Off 2013 and this year a Chortle nominated Best Newcomer, Novellie has a delicious turn of phrase and keen talent for creating comedic imagery.

An absolute pleasure to watch.” Broadway Baby

Evelyn Mok

This young lady has been with Crying Duck from the off and she never fails to delight. With inimitable delivery and a beautifully original perspective on many of life's big issues, Evelyn is the best thing to come out of both Sweden and China since... sliced bread?

"Charmed the crowd from the off... kept the audience in stitches throughout her set"  The Velvet Onion

Mark Silcox

Who is Mark Silcox I hear them cry. Well no one's really sure but what we do know is that the man that will stand in front of you telling jokes is a left-field crowd-pleaser of the very highest order. One of the true gems of the circuit, what this guy does is something different, something beautiful and ultimately hilarious.

"You look and sound like the doctor who did my cervical screening." - Ava Vidal

The line-up for 25th April was:

CARDINAL BURNS

This band of (two) merry men are hardly a secret. Funny, funny, funny, these boys are fresh off the back of their first television series with a second in the can and they say it was all a warm up for the Crying Duck. We're thrilled to have these behemoths of sketch comedy at the Park Theatre – hot tickets people.

Supported by:

TOBY

Much like the exposed filament of a lightbulb, this sibling sketch duo are burning bright and hot to the touch. The Duck team are so excited to have these two with us for the first time, we’ve forgotten our own pin numbers.

HENRY VON STIFLE

The renowned philanthropist, author, historian, racontuer, orator, world record holder, humanitarian and pimp makes a much welcomed return to The Duck. HVS is the reason we now check the pupils of every act before they go on stage.

DARREN WALSH

Quick fire delivery, ingenious use of props and the je ne sais quoi factor, secured Mr. Walsh a win at the 2013 UK Pun Championship. Want to know something else? He’s so tall the National Guard were called in to sink some motar rounds into his legs because he kept treading on power lines.
