Midas
By Martin Murphy
A brutally up-to-date retelling of the classic myth, set in modern-day Finsbury Park. Midas is offered a gift; a golden touch that could give his family everything they ever wished for – but at what cost? Midas is thrown into a world of drugs, fame and revenge porn; his attempts to create a better life for his daughter sees everything he touches destroyed.
Artists battle for gallery space, a Rockstar rules over her entourage. Drugs, adultery and chicken wings are all on the menu as Midas’s touch spirals across the lives of all he encounters.
Produced by Park Theatre Alumni Company through Park Theatre’s Creative Learning Programme, Midas showcases the theatre’s engagement work in a professional setting.
Midas follows on from director Amy Allen & writer Martin Murphy’s previous collaborations including Jury which received a OnComm Commendation from the Off West End Awards.

Amy Allen
Amy Allen
Amy is a Funny Boned and Big Hearted artist. Comedy and Curiosity sit at the core of her creativity as well as a desire for discovering the myriad of ways to express and access authentic artistry.
Amy has enabled hundreds of people to access their own authenticity and creativity by curating a vast variety of creative projects & workshops including for people living with dementia.
It is the heartbreaking hilarity of what it means to be alive, running parallel to the admiration and inspiration derived from comedians and poets which has led her along this rocky road to the credits laid out below.
A firm believer in a list of credits undermining and falsely portraying the truth and depth of who she is as an artist, Amy would like it to be known that to date, she is most proud of her ability to impersonate both a seagull and Patsy Stone off of Ab Fab.
Amy is an award-winning actor, writer and director. Most at home in Queer spaces, with artists and funny people on the fringes of society, as well as in seas, ponds and pools.
As an actor, Amy’s theatre credits include: Sleepy Hollow (National Tour), A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Much Ado About Nothing, Henry V (Petersfield Shakespeare Festival), Hamlet (Brighton Open Air Theatre); West End Girls (Live Theatre); Caliph (Vaults), Confessional, The Builders (Theatre503); A Tune of Two Muses (Arcola Theatre) and Scrooge You! (Arts Theatre-West End).
Film/ TV credits include: Happy Toys (BBC); Diagnosis (BBC); Joannie (Pulse Films); Grimsby Girl (ASC, Hidden Door); Pinky (ESA Films); Life Support (Spoon Jar Films); Fight (Signature Pictures) & numerous commercials across TV, Cinema and online.
Comedy includes: The Undercover Recruiter (The world’s first Instagram Sitcom), Funny Gals Friday – Stand-up (Arts Theatre Cabaret Club), and self-penned comedy characters receiving much acclaim online. Amy was recently shortlisted for a BBC Comedy/NE Comedy HotHouse creative development fund to further her outline of a TV script.
Recent directing credits include I’ve Never Met Anyone Quite Like You Before (Golden Goose Theatre/Drayton Arms/ Edinburgh Fringe).
