Goblin is a “seriously impressive” (The Stage) dark, comedic solo performance about obsession, growing up and the transformative power of being seen.

Written & performed by Derek Mitchell (known online as @derekscottmitchell and @letsdoubledutch), the show follows 15-year-old emo kid Eliot from adolescence in 2000s America, to adulthood in the present day, through a series of vivid characters, shifting voices and physical transformations.

The audience is addressed as ‘goblin’ and invited into Eliot’s world, but then slowly shut out as Eliot grows older, more secretive and more entangled in a destructive relationship with a much older, much more alternative and much more British reality TV star named Max.

The show explores what it means to love someone who slips away, and what it means to stick around even if it seems all hope is lost. What’s left is a grown-up man who’s lost himself, and who yearns to find his goblin again.
