The Script Readers in association with Park Theatre presents

The Old Room - Rehearsed Reading

by William Stanton

Directed by: Anna Mors

Two people meet by chance in a city bar.  She’s there to meet a friend who works for 4-C, a political lobbying organisation.  He’s working on 4-C’s computer security and is there to meet someone who doesn’t turn up.  They seem attracted to each other, but how open can people be in a society where privacy theft, betrayal and coercion are everyday reality, sanctioned by government?

The Old Room – theft of privacy, betrayal of secrets, undermining resistance.  And that’s only in public.

The Script Readers are proud to be producing this rehearsed reading - the next stage of development of The Old Room by William Stanton from its original workshop in 2015. Previous successful readings at The Park include Love In A Bubble by Rodney Clark on 7th Sept 2014,
Freddie, Ted & The Death of Joe Orton by Don Cotter on 25th Feb 2014 & No Reasonable Offer Refused  by Norma Cohen on 14th Oct 2013.

This reading marks the continuing association between Park Theatre and The Script Readers, founded in 2008 by actor Shenagh Govan. Based at Theatre Royal, Stratford East, The Script Readers encourages the development of new writing through monthly readings & feedback sessions for the writer.
