Ben Travers (1886-1980) is an English writer. His first playThe Dippers was based on his own 1920 novel of the same name. It was followed by his celebrated series of farces whichwere staged at the Aldwych Theatre from 1925 to 1933, which included Rookery Nook, The Three Graces, A Cuckoo in the Nest, Plunder, Mischief, A Cup of Kindness, A Night Like This, Turkey Time, Dirty Work, A Bit of a Test as well asThark. The majority of his farces of the twenties and thirties were filmed and other screenplays included Pot Luck, Foreign Affairs, Lady in Danger and Uncle Silas. Other works includeThe Bed Before Yesterday, as well as five
