"Glaspell's exquisitely understated and poignant drama... performed by a talented all-female ensemble" The Guardian

Jack Thorpe Baker, following his sell-out revival of Noël Coward's 'Ace of Clubs' at the Union Theatre, is now directing 'Shutters', a triple bill of unique American plays celebrating the extraordinary journey of women over the last century:

'Cast of Characters' by Philip Dawkins, a witty family drama of theatrical proportions. Philip received national acclaim and a Joseph Jefferson Award nomination for his 2011 work 'The Homosexuals', and is artist-in-residence at Chicago's Goodman Theatre.

'Trifles', Pulitzer Prize-winner Susan Glaspell's celebrated 1916 play, an iconic example of early feminist writing and a masterfully crafted thriller.

'The Deer' by Brooke Allen, a delicately tragic story of a woman's attempt to deal with her grief. Brooke’s play 'The Life and Death of Madam Barker' was nominated for a Joseph Jefferson Award. She is also artist-in-residence at Chicago's Red Tape Theatre.

Featuring an ensemble of women performing all roles, male and female, and presenting TWO European premieres, don't miss 'Shutters'.
