Little Pieces of Gold June 2013

Little Pieces of Gold brings you eight little nuggets of fantastic new drama!  We produce the very best in bold, new writing from up-and-coming UK playwrights. We have a reputation for staging sell-out shows at leading London fringe venues and have garnered much industry interest for our writers. Each show features an eclectic mix of short plays, handpicked from an open submission. The 24 June showcase was curated from nearly 400 scripts.

 

June (Isley Lynn, dir by Audrey Sheffield) Isley’s work has been produced and supported by the National Theatre Studio, Cottesloe Theatre, Royal Court Young Writers Prog and Studio Group,  Soho Theatre, Lyric Hammersmith, Theatre Royal Stratford East and Ovalhouse Writers Company.

 

Suit & Tie (Written & directed by Ben Worth) Ben co-wrote Twelve Miles From Nowhere for Action Transport Theatre. It was nominated for best play by The Writers Guild 2012. He is one of the writers for Theatre503’s ThatcherWrite in June.

 

A Big Fridge (James Fritz, dir. by Lydia Parker) James’s play LINES was deemed “a highly promising original debut” by The Stage.  His work has shown as part of the LPoG showcase and the PLAYground project at the Southwark Playhouse and at the Arcola Theatre for the JMK Award

 

March (Sarah Hehir, dir. by Suzette Coon) Sarah won the BBC Writer’s Prize 2013 and she was shortlisted for The Nick Darke Award 2012. Her play, Bang Up has been commissioned for the Radio 4 Afternoon Play.  

 

Him, Her and Us (Alix Hearn, dir. by Sophie Gilpin) We are very excited to be producing Alix’s very first play. 

 

Explanation Pending (Tosin Omosebi, dir. by Sharon Willems) Tosin won a national playwriting competition with her play ReWrite which was produced by the National Theatre. Most recently she has been a judge for the National Theatre's New Views playwriting competition 2013. All whilst studying for her A Levels.  

 

Castles in the Air (Serena Haywood, dir. by Joanna Greaves) Serena’s play, Pause, will show at this year’s Camden Fringe Festival. Her work has been produced at The Brockley Jack Theatre, Theatre 503, Bits of Obits, Insignificant Theatre Company, The Significant Other Festival, Behind the Bike Shed and Crow Theatre. 

 

Guardian Angel (Dom Riley, dir. by Daniel Burgess) Dom’s one man play about football hooliganism, Misconduct, for LOST Theatre’s One Act Festival will also have a Waterloo East transfer in June. Dom’s ‘Island State’ will be showing at the Edinburgh Fringe in August.
