Park Theatre Younger Company Summer 2022
26 April 2022 - 05 July 2022
What is it?
This is a weekly course for young people aged 12-14 of all abilities who enjoy all aspects of theatre including acting, creating and having fun in an energetic and supportive environment. Our participants will be looking at scripts and bringing characters to life, as well as exploring their own identity and passion as artists.
In these sessions we will get to know each other through fun drama games and exercises so that everyone feels comfortable and we create a supportive ensemble. We will also start to look at this term’s in-house musical comedy show Tony! [The Tony Blair Rock Opera] and discover how the themes in it relate to young people today.
We will look more closely at the themes of the in-house musical comedy show Tony! [The Tony Blair Rock Opera] which will form the inspiration for the scripts we will be working on and pieces we will create. We will explore this through acting, rap, poetry and spoken word. These weeks will include character and voice work, as well as physicality and script writing.
With an emphasis on rap (think Hamilton the musical!) and comedy, we will further develop skills in voice, movement and performance while working on creating our own show.
In our final session together, we will rehearse our piece and share it in a scratch night at 7pm in the Morris Space to celebrate all of our creativity this term!
