26 January 2022 - 06 April 2022

What is it?

This is a weekly course for actors & musicians aged 18+ . We are particularly interested in hearing from actors who spent their training on zoom and/or weren’t able to have a showcase due to COVID. We also welcome community actors who would like R&D experience.

Participation is by audition only on 11 Jan 2022, in a 10 minute time slot between 17.00 - 21.00.
You can book an audition by clicking on the Book Now button.

Once we have all the bookings, we will allocate audition times and contact you.
Audition booking closes 12pm on Fri 7 Jan.
You will be notified of your time slot by 6pm on Fri 7 Jan.

For the audition
Please prepare a contemporary monologue, no longer than 3 minutes, of your choice. If you are a singer/play an instrument, please let us know this when you book your audition.

Course Content

Week 1

This week the company will get to know each other and be introduced to writer Martin Murphy’s work. This will be done through drama games, exercises, techniques and introductions to scripts.

Weeks 2-3

The Research & Development (R&D) will commence. We will work closely with Martin and his new script as we research and develop the piece as an ensemble. These will be practical and energised sessions involving movement and voice exploration as well as collaborative discussion.

Weeks 4-9

These sessions will take the form of an intensive rehearsal process. We will further explore characters, relationships, themes and techniques to discover more about the piece and enable the development of it from page to stage.

Week 10

In our final session together, we will rehearse what we have discovered over the past 9 weeks and present the piece in an informal scratch night in the theatre’s Morris Space before heading to the bar for a well deserved celebration!
