PARK THEATRE BLOG

by Dorcas Morgan

Hello. We’ve all agreed it’s time we brought back the Park Theatre blog so here it is. I’ve been reading back through the archive and it’s been great to follow the journey of Park Theatre from the early days of building speak about ‘structural steel’, ‘disproportionate collapse’ and’ the benefits of gas combi boilers’, right through to the excitement of announcing the opening season. Since then, it’s been a bit quiet on the blog front, but here we are, back in action, to bring you the backstage banter and front of house gossip and this week it’s my turn.

So, what to tell. Well, it’s great to be here. I arrived about six weeks ago to head up fundraising. Since then, I’ve met lots of lovely Park Friends and last week we invited some of our major donors to see Jez’s first foray as a director, Adult Supervision. What a good evening. Fabulous show, wonderful Park Theatre supporters and a terrific spread laid on by our cafĂ© bar team. Thanks all. Remember you can have a delicious light supper before or after a show at the Park. https://www.parktheatre.co.uk/your-visit/the-cafe-bar

You all know we offer great plays at affordable prices and because of this our ticket sales will never bring in enough money to pay all our bills. That’s where I come in. I’m collating as much info as possible about our future productions, our creative learning programme and what else we need at Park Theatre to help us continue to make our shows, offer great learning experiences and welcome as many people as possible to enjoy our venue. I’m talking to funders, corporate businesses and of course some lovely individuals about how they can help.

So lots to do – thank goodness I’ve got help. This week I brought my dog, Loki, into work. He’s a new friend for Hazel and a great envelope licker. Clearly his day in the office wore him out.

Time of a cup of tea and a biscuit. Bye for now and remember, If you want to make a donation, just let me know.
