Nadia Blye knows exactly what her stance is on Iraq. A former war reporter and Professor of International Relations at Yale, she has advised the President and seen action in Sarajevo and Baghdad. She is sure of her place in the world and her opinion of it.

Until, that is, she meets an equally opinionated and lethally charming man – her boyfriend’s father – over a weekend in Shropshire. His intervention has far-reaching consequences for them all.

Award-winning Sir David Hare writes a gripping play, pitting personal philosophies against global politics. The Vertical Hour premiered on Broadway in 2006 directed by Sam Mendes, followed by its UK premiere at the Royal Court on the 17th January 2008 becoming the fastest selling new play ever. Hare's best known plays include Plenty, Skylight, Racing Demon, Via Dolorosa and Stuff Happens.

As of 2013 Hare has received Two Academy Award Nominations, Three Golden Globe Nominations, Three Tony Award Nominations, and has won a BAFTA, a Writers Guild of America Award, Two Olivier Awards and several New York Drama Critics Circle Awards.

BAFTA Award Winner Nigel Douglas directs, in a move bringing him back to live theatre after over a decade in TV and Film. Douglas' credits include Wild at Heart, Casualty, Eastenders, Grange Hill (BAFTA winning episodes), This Life (BAFTA for Best Drama), Clocking Off (Numerous BAFTAs) among many of the most popular British TV shows.

Intellectual, gripping drama - not to be missed.
