Join our weekly Zoom hosted devising theatre class online.

What Is It?

Join our weekly Zoom hosted devising theatre class online. Over 6 weeks this term, focus on Activism in Performance, exploring different performers, practitioners and companies that use their medium as a platform for activism and social change, and use this as inspiration to devise your own performance.

Course Content

Using the platform of Zoom, be a part of an acting community online and get an introduction to social activism within performance. Focus on research and development over 6 weeks, which will inform the work that you create in the following term.

Devise your own work as an individual and as a company through improvisation and writing. Feed back to other members of the company and develop your own work with the help of professional actor and creative learning facilitator Amy Allen, and professional director and creative learning facilitator Natasha Kathi-Chandra.

You will look at practitioners such as Cardboard Citizens, Graeae, Akala, Kae Tempest and Good Chance Theatre. The final schedule of practitioners you will be researching will be confirmed in due course.

Activism in Performance: Devising Course is part of our Activate Your Rebellion season, where we challenge you to embrace your local community, assess the world around you and look at how we can action positive change.

Please note that this class takes place on Zoom
