Denise, Denise, Denise

by Andrew Wilson

With the world premiere of Deny, Deny, Deny in November, Denise Silvey has now produced four plays at Park Theatre – three new plays by Jonny Maitland and one re-discovered classic from the 1930s. Of the earlier productions, Dead Sheep has just completed a national tour, An Audience with Jimmy Savile went on to a sold-out run at the Edinburgh Festival, and J.B. Priestley’s The Roundabout is set to go to New York in 2017.

Denise is the Director of Cahoots Theatre Company. Her curriculum vitae covers most aspects of British theatre, having begun her career in the early 1990s as an actress and singer (in film, television and radio as well as the stage) before moving into production and general management. As well as bringing new plays and musicals to the stage, she is currently the Production Supervisor of The Mousetrap, the longest running stage show in the world.

In this exclusive interview, Denise answers questions about her working relationship with Park Theatre, the challenges of producing quality theatre in the UK today, and the top role on her personal “bucket list” as an actor.
